This is FYI,

I am currently benching a 4 site cluster all with MXeIII controllers all with RAID. The last controller I benched would not fire up at all.
If you have a look at the PSU when turned on, the left (input) LED was lit but the right (output) LED was not.

The problem was the power connect on the back of the HDD backplane that connects the RAID controller. It is REVERSED with the tab the wrong way around. This must be causing some sort of short. I'm just glad I didn't let the smoke out, once the RAID controller was removed it fired up OK.

Obviously something has gone wrong in the factory, hopefully there aren't too many out there.

I guess if I didn't have RAID I would never have noticed.

Thanks for the heads up. Probably just a slip up on the assemble line. My dad alwasy used to say he never wanted to buy a car build late on a Friday or first thing on a Mondau. :)

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
