I'm trying to run exchange, dns, and iis on one server. I can hook up a notebook to the network and send out thru outlook. But when I try to receive mail over the internet sent from another exchange server, it gets kicked back with this:
The recipient name is not recognized

The most brillian Dan from Microsoft Exchange Support says:
"FWIW - If you can't send it is almost always DNS. If you can't recieve it is almost always MX record. "

But I can't make heads or tail of the DNS Mail Exchanger. My computer name is ns1, my domain is website.com, my Organisation in Exchange is customOSAS. So what is my host or domain, and what is my mailserver?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Doug

MX is ns1.website.com and make sure you have an A record that has that IP

If you put the real domain I can help. website.com has all mail going to 209.132.220.75

Also if you can give the IP and a test e-mail address I can probably tell you what it wrong in a matter of minutes. If it is 5.5 then its pretty easy to setup. Dan

I wish I had a clue what you meant by MX is ns1.website.com.

The e-mail I'm trying to send is doug@dougnc.com

Thanks!

Doug
