Hi,
Can anybody clear up for me the correct procedure to get multiple lims synching their time from NTP server.
At preset lims are showing different times?

thanks
Saf!

You need to point your server # 1 to IP address of NTP server source and point the other lims/servers to the ip address of server #1 which is the master. In this case the system clock is synchronize.

Hi,
It looks like my setup is already as you stated?
I'm wondering if i need to restart NTP service, if so dooes this need to be done out of hours?

NTP config setting from yast...

Lim1 is set to NTP server.
NTP start Deamon x during boot

Lim2 NTP config is set to synch type:
Server - Lim1

NTP start Deamon x during boot
x run NTP deamon in chroot jail
Undiciplined local clock (Local) x

Safron,

you can test the correctness of your NTP setup from yast.
Don't forget to restart eri_sn after time corrections.

Cheers,
Daddy

Hi Daddy,

Yeah, i'm reluctant to do this test (during traffic) last time it logged out all Sec agents :S

I'll try the test out of hours, i can ping NTP ok. i'm pretty sure NTP responds to test in Yast. If so i'm still scratching my head as to why the lims do not synch up their clock.

Also you're suggesting to /etc/init.d/eri_sn start ??
Why not just restart NTP services?

thanks....Saf!

when the time is changed on the system, eri_sn needs to be restarted.

Hi daddy,
If i have four lims, i must restart any eri_sn of the four lims?
Best Regards

yes, init 6 on each lim would also do the trick
