Hello,

Wondering if there's anyway around a problem I've got:

I have an MX record pointing to a mail server(A).

I want to move mail to mail server(B).

Both servers are on the internet.

If I change the MX record for the domain to mail server(B), this process takes a while, and some people will get the change before others because of caching etc.

So some of the mail will be going to A and some to B.

How can I deal with this crossover, so the user gets all their mail from the POP3 account on server(B)?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks

2 month later :) the answer:

1. stop delivery from (A) -> queue it to one local-account
2. change your MX from (A) to (B)
or, if really paranoid:
2a. add another MX with higher priority (lower value) for (B)
2b. (after all done) remove MX for (A)
3. on (B): fetch all mails from (A) for delivery
