I have a MM 3.1 (2MAS and 1MSS) and I have one user.. just one, and when he receives a new message his light doesn't light on the phone. When you status his station the messgage is not there; However, in subscriber activity the message is there and it can be listened to as well. His station and subscriber are identical in every way to the other users.

I've logged in to the MAS server and went into live mode of operational history viewer and sent him a test message. The message went into his vm box, but the MAS never sent the MWI request. Again.. this is only for this 1 subscriber. What would be causing that? I had all 3 server rebooted as well and still the same thing is happening.

A couple of checks needed.
1. The MM COS that the mailbox resides is it set for Message Waiting Indicator = Yes or On?
2. Under the MM mailbox form, launch subscriber options button at the bottom of the screen, and verify that the MWI function is active and set for ALL types.
3. Verify on the phone side that the station number is setup for the proper MWI activation and verify this with the Avaya Configuration note for the particular integration type that you are using (88014 - H323, 88012 - Direct SIP).
4.On the MAS that is running the MM MWI(message waiting indicator) service there is a tool under C:\Avaya_Support\Tools\MWIView\mwiview.exe. When you open the MWIView.exe the first time it will ask you to locate the MWIState.mdb database which is located at C:\Program Files\Avaya Modular Messaging\MWIServer directory. If the number is not present under this database but all the other items (1, 2, 3 above) then you may have to reset the MWI database.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for your help. It was #2. Somehow MWI wasn't flagged in subscriber options. No idea how that happened. Is that something a user can accidentally turn off within the TUI?

Yes, a subscriber could inadvertently turn it off either through their telephone or the subscriber options tool (if they have access to it).
