i got the same config on my lab MSS/MAS (release 2.0)like my customer has. everything is working well except the MWI does no work. on the "operation history viwer" the line "MWI request to 'SET' the lamp has been called for extension: 1234 on port 1 is missing ??
does anybody have an idee ??
i've alredy setup the mas from scratch and i've done a resore on the mss !!

what service pack(s) do you have installed. Do these match those of your customer.

i have setup the MAS and the MSS from scratch with the restore DVD and on the s8700 i made the programming by using the configuration note 88004 version 02/07 from avaya. at the moment i've installed the SP2, i know that SP6 is the one i should use,but in our lab i guess the MWI should also been working, can i trace to get information what the problem could be ??

Can you tell me what you mean by "MWI request to 'SET' the lamp has been called for extension: 1234 on port 1 is missing ??"

Not sure i get it.

Do you mean you never see it come up in the OHV ? Does any of them work ?

Where are you running the MWI service at?

How many MAS'S do you have?

If you look at the MWI file what size is it?

Are you sure you have the port group setup right for the MWI?

Hi Ken

When i open the Operation History Viewer in live mode, after i left a message on the box 1234, shortly i should see the following "MWI request to SET the Lamp has been called for extension: 1234 on port 1", but i got nothing
- the MWI is running on the MAS1
- i've just one MAS
- is it the file called "mwistate.mdb" ?? the size is 132kb
yes i'm pretty sure, because i made print screens at my cusomer site, and i used this print screens here on my lab.

at the event viewer (W2kServer)under application i got every 5 minutes an error "source" = gv_server with the event-ID 1643, the description for this is "An error occured logging in to the MSS server to provide the MAS Heartbeat (error-code:1)

If you are getting that error eery 5 min that means the MAS can't see the MSS. Can the users access the mailboxes OK ? The MAS needs to scan the MB's to see if any new messages are in them and it sounds to me like the MWI does not know the MB has new messages.

Is there any other problems on the system?

there is no other problem with my voice mail except that problem with the MWI Lamp

Hi Ken
i could solve the problem by doing the following:

1. Right click on Network Places on the desktop of the affected MAS server and select properties.

2. Click on the Advanced menu and select Advanced Settings.

3. On the Adapters and Bindings tab, select the Private Lan connection in the list of connections and use the up button to move this connection to the top of the list.

4. Click OK when completed.

5. Re-start the mailbox monitor, call me, and message waiting indicator services.

thanks

It appears that the command is attempted to be given to the PBX but the command is not understood by the PBX or the command given is incorrect. What integration are you using? What PBX are you using?

i'm using the MM2.0 with the avaya s8700 3.1.4
but i resolved the problem , thanks

I have a similar situation. MM 2.01 SP6 QSIG integration, S8720s CM5.0. Message light turns on but not off.

Any takers?

Well if you can give us some more background on it and also post any errors or OHV logs of the problem that would be helpful.
