In the older versions of avaya CM, when creating a voicemail subscriber, there was an option to enable for MWI so the sip end point device would get the notification that it had waiting voicemail. In 6.3 I cannot find this option, my sip devices are not getting a notification that they have waiting voicemail, even my sip avaya one-x commmunicator does not light up. Any suggestions?

MWI Server type used = sip in the station form is all I've ever had to do. Provided voicemail is sending a SIP NOTIFY to 1234@you.com with "Message waiting=yes", that's all I ever see/need to do setting up AAM, and it would seem to be standard enough of a way to do MWI in SIP anyway.

Are you using MS UM?

Can you manually light the lamp using the LWC send a message FAC ?

kyle555 - On page 2 of the station form, it was blank, i changed it to sip-adjunct - Still not working for my one-x communicator.
I do not see message waiting=? or SIP NOTIFY in the subscriber section of the SMI?

ddog6601 - I do not have a FAC for LWC, is that page 3, leave word calling send a message ?

so I added the send message to dialplan for on and off, and it does not work for my sip devices, but it does light up my IP phones just fine. Which I expected.

I was referring to what the SIP message would look like being sent from your voicemail to CM (possibly thru SM)

traceSM from Session Manager is easiest - maybe the voicemail is prepending a + and you're not stripping it off. Maybe its MS UM or some other voicemail that needs to send SIP NOTIFY to 555@me.com and not kyle@me.com.

List trace TAC on the voicemail SIP trunk might help, so could an MST trace on the SIP signaling group to voicemail (that you can view in the SMI log viewer afterward under system logs and MTA analyzer) and at least see exactly what the voicemail is giving the CM to work with as far as its messaging goes.

On page 8 of change sys features do you have a value for the qsig extns ?

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

Yes, on page 3 of FAC. There is a Send a Message and a Leave a Message. I assigned a code to both fields and I sometimes use it to test the lamp on a station. It allows you to turn the lamp on / off by going off hook, dialing the access code then extension.

For the manual on / off not working, try to change the LWC Reception to spe on page 3 of station form for both phones. I have mine set to none normally but when I am performing this test I temporarily change the two stations involved to spe.

The test light FAC works for non sip, such as ip, digital and analog phones, still does not work for any of my sip devices.

Check if the voice mail integration is enabled in the Voice Mail Integration
panel of System Settings for One X Comm

I do not see that option, and the other sip devices I am using, such as Ascom phones, are not getting the indication either. It has to be something with either system manger or the SMI settings for subscriber.. ?? But I am not sure.

I have had no luck getting this to work. I have read a lot of other people having the same problem.

Quite simply, If I can get one-x communicator to receive the MWI when a new Voicemail arrives, then all other sip devices should work. I have tried both TCP and TLS with no luck, also changed MWI served user type sip-adjunct, and qsig-mwi. Also left it blank and add ch ip node-name audix and pointed the IP to my avaya session manager IP. Still no luck. Anyone have any suggestions on other things to try?

are the sip phones using different extensions from the digital of ip phones? if so session manager might be where to look

Same extension ranges. Just used what was available.I tried several extension ranges. All the same results.

Are you using a hunt-group with Message Center: sip-adjunct

I have hunt group 99 for voicemail. But I am not sure what you mean by if I am using it with message center?

What kind of Ascom phones are you using?
Can you traceSM MWI updates for these phones?
What kind of voicemail are you using and is there Session Manager involved?

Found a note indicating you have to put a message center number in at least one kind of IPBS. Maybe you need to make sure that that far end you want to light up is programmed to expect voicemail updates from pilot 5555@you.com and that your voicemail is using 5555@you.com as P-Asserted Identity?

Either way, if you can use One-X Comm to login to extension 1234 and get MWI, but login another type of SIP phone on 1234 and not get it, then you've isolated things down a bit. I've had to set the MWI server for some applications to Session Manager before, or AAM, and had to fiddle with it to get anywhere.

That all being said, I find it perversely amusing that in the 21st century we still bust our balls putting two of the greatest inventions of the 19th century together - the telephone and the light bulb.

OK so I have discovered, for some reason I now have one phone that is working peffectly with the waiting indicator.

When I go to system manager > session manager > system status > user registrations.. I can click a device and one of the tabs I can click says device, when I click that, I see a field about "event subscriptions" my one phone that is working is has message-summary in it, while my other devices that are not working are blank in that field.. My questions is, how do I make a phone have message summary for event subscriptions.

Any suggestions?
