We have had a steady flow of users who have reported that their message lights are either not going off even if they have no new message or the light is not coming on with new messages. We have done several refreshes on the MWI ports but the problem still persists. Any Suggestions?

Need more info. What kind of PBX do you have and what are you using for integration into it a PID or a voice bridge or just flt cards also what is the software version of the Octel?

Well I can't be much help, but I have the same problem on my equipment.

I do know it is the octel not sending the code to the PBX to light the vm led. I have verified this using the CDR option in the Octel.

Octel support told me it was caused by user not "*" out of their vm box. (I never do and never had the problem) I also have this problem sometimes on vm box that I just configured.

One thing that may be causing this problem is if you are using one or more ports to turn on message waiting lights and the ports are also allowed to take incoming calls. IE port 2A is flagged for M and also taking incoming calls. If port 2A turn son the light on your phone it is the only port that can turn it off and if someone is in their mailbox or if the port is in use for some other propose then the port can’t turn your light out (or on if it is the only one in your system) so if a user is in their box for 25 minutes and in that time 200 message waiting on and off commands have stacked up they will start to fall off the queue as it is a FIFO. So now the port is not in use and your light will not go out as the command is not there any more.

All message waiting ports should be taken out of the hunt group and only allowed to use for message waiting.

There are many things that can make this happen if you need help let me know
