Is it possible with the 5340 to simply press the flashing MWI hardkey and be taken straight to your mailbox without first having to lift the handset?

Note VM is an Octel system on an upstream 2K. Integration works fine, just the "button" is driving a couple users nuts and they in turn are about to drive me nuts.

If they press the flashing MWI key while on hook it presents them with a set of drill-down prompts to (1) Read Message, then (2) call.

Off-Hook it works as intended. (other than they had to lift the handset to make it work correctly)

Is there something I missed in programming or a workaround for this?

We can put a MWI softkey on the instrument and that works correctly, but of course that "burns a button" plus isn't visible if their set is left on one of the other pages.

Thanks

At this point the simple answer is: "NO."

The easiest way to work this, is press INTERCOM + MSG Waiting Key. That will work without you lifting the handset.

There is a DPAR in to have this changed, but a few things need to change first.

I believe if the MWI key is programmed on a key app it will work directly but not the fixed message key.

Correct. Keyline MWI works, but with the 5330/40 you have to have that "page" displayed.

If that's a DPAR it's taken its sweet time getting to that level. The "anomaly" has been around at least since LW29 (or possibly longer).
