I purchased a couple of MWI adjuncts for a Merlin Legend R7 phone system with MLM 007 voicemail. I have a complaint that the MWI sometimes lights a day AFTER a message is left. I can't recreate the issue. After some testing and research, I'm leaning more to the fact that people aren't looking at the MWI adjunct and realizing they have a message.

The voicemail is a 4 port system and the company only has 5 incoming lines. I don't see port 4 being tied up so often that this would happen as often as reported. I checked and the voicemail group is linear and port 4 does answer.

None of the MLX phones have this problem, so I'm hoping it's not the MWI adjunct.

I read that you can perform a MWI refresh on the system so I did hoping that if there was a problem it would fix it. But I don't know what this does, can anyone explain exactly what this process does?

Any other thoughts as to why a MWI would light a day after a message was left and there are no other messages?

Favorite all too common vendor responses: "We've never seen this issue before." AND "No one's ever wanted to use it like that before.

Nine times out of TEN when we hear about this, the END USER has hit the POUND SIGN (to skip a message) TWICE, thus, skipping 2 messages.

Then they don't discover the 2nd message until A DAY LATER.

Thus, the voice mail is at fault.

Good luck convincing them.........

Actually... it's 10 out of 10...
