Hello,

Need to setup up mutiple access points on the same LAN. Which options would you go for and why?

Option 1) All access point have the same SSID, the channel frq is manually set (Each of them will have different channel at least 3 apart from the next nearest AP). All the AP's will have the same WEP Key and MAC address filtered enable. MAC address will be loaded to all the AP's. The AP's will be wired directly into the same Switch. This setup will cause wireless devices to be "Handed-off" to the strongest AP signal. Wireless clients will have only one SSID profile in there wireless networks.

Option 2) All AP's will have different SSID, Same WEP and MAC address filtered. The wirless clients profile will need to have all SSID configured.

Option 3) open for any suggestions.

Thank you in advance

I understand the topic. But i,ve mine own question. How you can connect multiple access point to one ADSL WIRELESS GATEWAY so that all devices spread out there between difference access points can communicate with each other and can connect\share the internet?

You might have to extend the number of ports by adding a switch, but all the APs have the same SSID, WEP, etc. settings but different channels, and all are connected to the ports on the Gateway or switch extension to the Gateway by a cable.

In the alternative currently a small number of AP/Routers will support WDS which allows Mesh networking.
