Music Volume Too Loud on BCM 50 2.0

I'm trying to use the BCM Music Manager as the background/on-hold music source. I've uploaded the WAV files and basically got it working well, but the music is SOOOOO loud when it plays to callers on hold.

I've tried reducing the volume of the WAV before uploading it, but it seems like the BCM is amplifying it for some reason. On the tracks where I've reduced the volume then uploaded, there's lots of background noise (hissing, etc.) like if you turned up a very quiet song.

I haven't seen anywhere to control the volume from the music manager, and would really like to avoid using the line input jack, because there's no room to put a music source close to the BCM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Matt

I have been wanting to use that source for music myself. I have not done it yet. I am currently using an IPOD Nano. It is held to the wall with velcro, and you can hardly see it. It looks way cool on the wall for sure. But the internal unit would be a better deal if it works well.

Hmm... an iPod Shuffle would certainly fit in the space, would be easy for the staff to update but hard to mess up.

I was really impressed with the built-in feature until about the 10th caller complaining about how loud the music was while they were on hold. Now they just get the beeps until I can get the music worked out. :-( Other downside is that it only takes WAV or AU, not MP3, but that's only a small inconvenience.

I am not sure the Shuffle would work without a power source. The nano has a separate power brick, and I just cut the headphones wire and screw terminal on the RJ-45 breakout adapter. Just an thought. But who knows, the audio jack may supply power to the ipod shuffle??

Just an update -- Nortel released a new patch for BCM 50 Release 2.0 systems yesterday, BCM050.R200.041-IPMUSIC, that allows you to set the volume of tracks you upload to the system. Installed it this morning, uploaded the tracks again, and it works great!
