Hi,
Can anyone tell me if you can input music to an OPT11 - not MOH - just music to the phone speakers while onhook. I do this with the NorStars but I have no idea where to begin with the OPT11. I'm not looking to input music but rather our VHF audio. Like the NorStar, each OPT11 phone user would need to be able to turn on or off the audio on their phone.
Thanks,
SJCBR

no that is not an option. due to the fact that this system oc will support 10K phones, the power requirements would not make it cost effective. it is not in the software. might be better to add a 2 dollar radio instead of a 10,000 dollar option

Cheap (but hokey) Solution. Create a seperate MOH route with a different TARG than the rest of your trunk groups. Connect your music source. Either tell users they can dial the access code or put a Hot DN key on their set. Worx.

works but the caller ties up his line, how many people can dial an acod at the same time,

You are correct, it ties up a line and is limited. Like I said...it's hokey, but it works. Screws up internal traffic stats also. Only give it to the executives. Makes them feel even more special.

Also....another little drawback...always use the mute button as everyone that dials the access code is hanging out in the same audio path. If you don't use mute, someone may hear something you don't want them to hear.

i've never tried it, but it seems if your direct accessing a trunk, your callers would be limited to the number of trunks. moh is handled via a soft interface, ie, you can't talk to other people on hold, that would be a great place to meet people. i have 5 moh trunks in my 81, one per group. and i don't see how more then 5 people could dial the acod at the same time, and if they did would moh stll work and could it possibly include the office conversation in offices that were dialed in

I think I remember from my I&M class MANY moons ago that the number of people who can listen to MOH or be provided MOH is equal to the number of Conference ports you have available. I believe this is why you have to assign a conference loop when you configure MOH.

I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this.

that part is correct when you access the moh from hold, i don't know how many can access it directly. i don't think the conf ports come into play in that case.. might do a trace tomorrow

Thanks,
Setting this up as a hotkey might work. It would be used to monitor emergency VHF conversations and not that many people would need to access the trunk. As long as I can set it up so it would not be heard by any caller put on hold.

i just did a test on my moh, the acod access is limited to the number of trunks

FYI, if you had problems with the latest MIRAN software 3.0m and MOH, they have just released a new one called 3.0P.03 that solves alot of problems.

You need 1 trunk for each person that you want to give MOH to, you just bridge the trunks and all connections are one way so you can only listen and not talk.
