you need a music device. That plugs into a music coupler from avaya. Then the coupler plugs into a trunk port of the phone system. After all that is done, you program that trunk as your music on hold port. MOH programming is under Aux equip. Depending on which release you have, you may have to pick between group music on hold or system music on hold. YOU WANT SYSTEM. then it will ask for the trunk port that you put your device into. MOH only works for external callers. Not intercom calls put on hold.
Is the adapter needed For example I say a device that had 2 plugs Line 1 in Line 2 out. So the main line plugs into that then the device plugs into the line port on the Legend. ??
I worked on one the other day, and without the adapter (music coupler) I could not control the volume level to the Line Port.
I tried it both ways, and the particular music source I had just OVERDROVE the sound going to the caller. In fact, it hurt your ear to listen to it without the coupler.
I have found that a external speaker jack on a radio/cassette player to an RJ-11 into a trunk port works fine. You have to play with the volume a little while on hold. This method requires periodic monitoring and adjustment of your source. I think a music coupler has some active components for AGC when level is set above the required threshold as indicated in earlier part of thread.
