I wonder if anyone here can help us? We are a small IT services provider, and have been working with a Shoretel partner to provide a VoIP system to one of our clients.
One feature the customer wants is to be able to play on hold music. Can anyone here tell me how complicated that would be to set up? They will be using a Shoregear-40 switch, which I believe has an audio jack on it already. Is it as simple as connecting an audio source to the jack, or is there more to it than that? Would something like a portable CD player (with properly licensed music CDs of course) work? Is there any configuration necessary on the Shoretel switch after an audio source has been connected?
The Shoretel partner is telling us that it's quite complicated process, and requires some special music-on-hold device and their expertise to set up on the switch. Can anyone shed any more light on this for me? Is this something we need them to do for us, or should we be able to handle that on our own for our customer?
Thanks for any advice you could provide.
