I have an old Norstar in the office that has Music On Hold set up. Lately, we found that callers cannot hear anything while put on hold. We can still hear the background music from a radio connected to the system. Usually that music also goes to the MOH. Checked Background Music in Feature Settings but nothing changed.

Put buttset on 66block, set to Monitor and test for Music. Press Ftr86 from a telephone and test.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunatley, I am a network guy but not a phone technician. I don't have buttset but would buy one if it is necessary.

Anyway, I can hear the background music from Feature 86. I tried switching Background Music (from FTR Seetings) to Tone but the party being put on hold still hear nothing. It seems that the 3 options "Music", "Tone" and "Silient" are all doing the same thing - No Sound.

Sorry for my stupidity. I was trying to call internally from one phone to another. MOH only works for external calls. After more searching in the forum, I found this:

The trouble of no MOH or Tones OH but background works brought something to mind... Were you checking for MOH using a station to station call? MOH or tones are not available for hold between stations only on outside lines.
I had made this error and it caused some headscratching and book reading for me. I Didn't see you specify where you were looking for MOH.
