I'm trying to connect the audio output on a PC to an analogue port on our PBX and use this as our music on hold source. I'm using a cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end and an RJ45 connector on the other end. When I connect this to my iPod it works fine. However, when I connect to the audio output on the PC it fails. I've also used a laptop succesfully.
I've plugged headphones into the audio output on the PC and it appears to be fine.
I'm kind of out of ideas as to what the problem may be with this. The PC I'm using is a HP Compaq D530 Ultra-Slim. Bit of an old banger but we've got loads of them spare. Hence the reason I'm trying this. I've updated all the audio drivers but nothing. I was thinking of getting a sound card from ebay and seeing if that made any difference but I'm reluctant to shell out money without a reasonable chance of success.
Any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tormod
