Nortel use to have a nice feature that users liked. They allowed an idle handset to play the music on hold music like a radio or CD player. I know that IPO allows the ability to TEST the MOH but that turns off when a new calls comes in and also uses up a line so a call waiting only send a short beep tone. You have to manually reactivate the music again after each call.

Is there an option that anyone know how to set up the handsets to play music like the old Nortel use to. When the handset became idle again the music started playing again. lot of users are not allowed to have speakers on there PCs so they used the handset.

Sadly the IP Office doesn't have Background Music / BGM. I miss that feature too!

At best "Music on set" on IPO is troublesome. When a user is playing music, the set shows as 'engaged' to a receptionist, and anyone with a programmed autodial key to that extension.

Everyone has a smartphone nowadays that can play music or radio or whatever. The MoH on the phone is very limited compared to the smartphone.

I'm not in front of the switch at the moment, but couldn't you create a VDN that goes to a wait time xxx seconds/mins/hours hearing music?

This is the IP Office forum. Vectors are a Communication Manager config item - not on IP Office.

The closest thing on the IPO is creating a short code that plays MoH but as mentioned this is like placing a call so you're effectively off hook. The same would apply on CM.

What the op is after is the ability to dial a feature code or press a button that plays the music on hold through the phone speakers but still be able to place/receive calls as normal with the music stopping when this occurs. This functionality while common on other systems like the BCM and Norstar, and indeed from other vendors like NEC does not exist on Aura or IP Office.

These users as many users are not allowed to use their cellphones while at work. Also they do not allow speakers on their computers. That is why this feature with the old Nortel was really loved by management. They could provide music but also control what is played.
