Music On Hold Alternate Sources 7

Hello,
I have been trying to set up additional MOH files to play along with the HoldMusic.Wav and I have tried to follow the instructions but no luck.

I have the HoldMusic.Wav file loaded into the Primary folder on the SD card as well as MOH-02, MOH-03, MOH-04.

All files are compliant with the Avaya WAV format:

  • PCM
  • 8kHz 16-bit
  • mono
  • maximum length 90 seconds (30 seconds on non-IP500 systems, 600 seconds on Linux based systems)

After a reboot only the HoldMusic. Wav file is playing. Am I missing something with the programming?

Thanks

You can test the MOH with a shortcode *34N# replacing N with the source number 1 (System Source) or 2 to 32 (Alternate Sources). Then they need to be assigned usually to an ICR.

1) You should specify the files name and order in the system/telephony settings
2) Be sure the files are native wavs, PCM files coming from MP3s could not be executed

Thank you both.

I know the files play because I swapped them and renamed them to HoldMusic.Wav, rebooted and then listened on hold and I can hear the recording has changed. Only the first file HoldMusic.Wav plays over and over and the rest of the files do not play.

Below is what I have for the Hold Music tab., does this look correct? I have dropped the .WAV files into the SD Primary folder.

Haven't done this for a long time, but the help implied that you should be entering WAV:<filename> in the Source column, where <filename> is the filename including the extension. The value in the Name column is used when selecting the source in other menus.

Thanks, I corrected that so it now says WAV: MOH-02.

Is my SOURCE name correct. I checked the HELP but it does not give details as to what should be listed in this field. I entered WAV I don't think that is correct.

You have added a space in the middle and left out the .wave at the end.

This is the right format, the "Name" is the description you'll find in the hunt group settings and the SOURCE is the exact file name+extension following the shown syntax

Thanks everyone. I got it working now.

One more questions, these additional selections can they all be played one after another as a single music source. So callers who are on hold for along time would hear each of these one after another or do I need to use an EXTERNAL ( CD/USB ) player or use a VMP install for a longer play time?
