Dear All, We run Avaya CM3 and I would welcome some advice on our music on hold. We have recently upgraded to an MP3 box which is connected to our network and is updated every month by an exnternal company. The music is played while our customers queue and also internally when put on hold making extension to extension calls. The problem I have is the connectivity . We used to use a CD player which was connected directly back to our frame using jumper wire and we assigned a port for MOH. when the mp3 player arrived they simply used a phono cable to connect the Aux out from the CD player to the MP3 player. This works fine but I want to take the CD player out of the equation as i fear its on it last legs. How can I connect the MP3 player direct to our phone system ? Any advice ?

connect the MP3 directly to the aux board or analog port and smash the cd player.

At the last place I worked, we used IPods for music on hold for various clients that requested their own music and announcement source. We had a bunch of old recorder cables that were used when they had a tape recorder on the desk plugged into the phone. It was basically a stereo jack to an RJ-11 head. We plugged that into a 356A adapter on the back of the PBX, or Patched that to a wallfield and cross connected to an Aux Trunk board.
