Hi, at the moment we use Mercury mail, loads of domains to alias then to their POP mailbox, Outlook collects via POP, sends via SMTP, Outlook knows which name to send as, its pulled it via POP so hard coded in the email.

SO we want to look at MDaemon, ive read some but nothing is clear and testing will be hard.

we have:
a.com
b.com
c.com

user : namea
user : nameb

So can MDaemon get a.com, b.com and c.com all on IP 1.1.1.1, then read some alias files OR rules to:

namea@a.com > namea inbox
nameb@a.com > nameb inbox
namea@b.com > namea folder location in there store...

etc...

THEN will it be able to work out when "namea" replies to the email from "nameb@a.com" in namea mails box to send it FROM a.com, same for if namea replies to a mail from b.com, will it send from the domain b.com....?

Exchange can’t do this natively, however with some add-ons it can (called replyFROM), its server side, very clever and works....

Don’t really want to deploy a whole domain just because of the mail server, esp as MD has a web client (as we like Outlook Web Access in Exchange).

The basic question is will MD look at the from domain and correctly identify that in the SEND when it sends a mail when handling multiple domains.

Many Thanks
Ashley
