Hi, I have inherited a job where we have 3 sites, with 2 domains. All sites are connected via a vpn site to site tunnel. One location is experiencing all sorts of problems. The problem site doesn't have a domian controller locally but dns and dhcp is local. I have noticed on the machines at the site that they all get an event in their appliacation log that says "Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted." This is also on the server thats hosting the dns. Users can still login and still get access to the servers but i think this is a fundamental problem and not helping to the situation

Any pointers to help me resolve this?

Have you confirmed that AD Sites and Services is set up correctly? Your subnet or subnets in your remote office should be set up in a "Site". Also in this site, should be one of your domain controllers. Otherwise, your clients in the remote office don't know where to look for a domain controller etc..

Your DNS and DHCP that are being served to the problem site locally - where does the DNS zone come from that is being served to the site. Your machines are goign to have problems if they don't know how to locate the domain controllers, you need to make sure you have SRV records in DNS that know how to get to the domain controllrs for both domains. You don't necessairly have to have a domain controller in every site (I have a 10 site network, don't have DCs in every site) but if DNS is not setup right, you'll have issues.
