I'm using IIS 6 on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. What I'd like to do is create 3 one page websites that reside on my server which is located in the DMZ and has a public IP address. I have four websites that are hosted remotely on fully qualified name servers.
I'd like to create a link from the remote websites (hyperlink with a URL) to the one page sites on the Server in my DMZ using the IP address of the DMZ server and the host name of the one page website.
My question is: Is this possible or do the one page websites have to be registered with an external DNS Server?

Thanks for the help!

If all you want to do is host the three pages on a single IP you can do this. Just copy the three files to the and reference the files by name.

If you want each file to be the default document so that you only have to point users to the IP address ( for example) then you would need to setup three sites in IIS and setup each as host headers. These host headers are unique DNS names that you'll be references the site by ( for example). Then you'll need to add these DNS names along with your public IP to the public DNS server for the domains in question.

If I understand what you've written then what I am trying to do doesn't sound possible without registering the host names with an external DNS Server. I mean create three single page websites and access them from a remote server via (portal being the Host Header Name).

I was also wondering about a web application I'm running which by default sets up a Virtual Directory in the Default Website. Some postings that I've read suggest that the Default Site should be stopped if you're running multiple sites on a single Server. Is this true?

In your example isn't the host header. /portal is the folder name. If you are going to run all three sites in different folders then you don't need to setup DNS. You can use links like this.

You can leave the default website running, or stop it depending on your needs. By its self it isn't any more or less secure than creating other IIS websites.

This may not be the right place to ask this question but I have gotten the three websites to work on one server with your help. I'm stuck with the website that I'm publishing which is a job application form. The form is an ASP page which writes to my SQL Server. I can view the page through IIS but the page can't be found using Internet Explorer. Any ideas why? I have confirmed that ASP is working using the steps outlined on the web by creating a test.asp file and then ensuring that you can view it using the browser.
I've tried everything I can find on the web regarding this problem and so far nothing has worked.

Thanks!
