We have a Cisco PIX firewall through which we route VPN connections. More than one client at different locations can be connected at the same time. However, one client location needs to be able to make connections from two machines at the location. The client location is on ADSL and the two computers there connect through an ADSL router. As soon as the second computer contacts the server location, the first computer's connection is 'Terminated by Peer' 'No reason given' This happens regardless of which of the computers is connected first. Anybody got any thoughts?

Have you got configured NAT Traversal (NAT-T)? If not, this might be the problem.
Add the following command to your PIX configuration:

isakmp nat-traversal <keepalive>

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, pix was configured by ADSL supplier. I need to contact their tech support to check this out - don't hold your breath!

We have had similar problems with more than one client wishing to connect at the same time from a remote site. We have a similar setup except we use a Netgear DG834 router.

First user connects fine, but when the second concurrent one tries - no joy.

The problem which you might be having is that your router only supports 1 VPN client passthrough session at a time. This is the case with us and Netgear confirmed this.

The only way round it for us to buy a dedicated VPN firewall/router which establishes a permanent tunnel between 2 sites. Extra cost!!!

the PIX is a dedicated VPN firewall..

NAT-T should take care of the problem.
