Id like to ask the experts...

Recently i took over this site with no turnover at all.
I have 4 isdn circuits, The only thing I can tell for sure is that 3 of the 4 have been used in the past for video conferencing, they are diasy chained into 3 different conference rooms..Typically only one conference is going on at a time. the 4th one seems to go to the video conference room upstairs, but is not part of the 3 circuits already there that are used for video conferencing. No one left here that would know, does know what it was used for so...

Question: I doubt it would come up but..Can I have 2 different video conferences simultaniously in seperate rooms with the current 3 isdn line daisy chain configuration, or would I need to degrade the quality of each video conference by using only 2 lines, thus brining this unknown 4th line into play?

If I understand your layout the 3 ISDN's have their S-Bus patched to all three conference roons - this would mean that they would be available at each room and probably one set of VC kit was wheeled around ... if it's a correctly wired S-Bus it may be possible to connect more than one ISDN device at once but yes that would reduce the number of B channels available to the second device if the first was in use. They would have to be configured to grab fewer lines. Yes that could be fixed with the 4th but it would be wise to study s-bus wiring and do some tests before making the assumption.

Peter is correct, but ONLY if the system uses the 4-wire "S interface" (no built in NT1).

If you are in the US or Canada this would require an External NT1.

I have since been assured that there will never be 2 VC's at the same time.. also we are now changing to a new IP configuration. So i will be removing all the Cricuits once were up and running. Thank you both !!!

I guess im still in the dark ages with ISDN..... I would like to ask, when setting up a tandberg 770, is it as simple as just hooking up the vcr to the right connections and it will play over the ISDN circuits as well as the video feed from the camera ? Im putting this here so it maybe notifies you to look in the ISDN que, it does not seem to busy in here, i will post a new thread as well.
