Hi,

I have a database that is on a shared server folder. Several users open the database without a problem. These users may have Access 2002, 2003 or 2007 and Windows XP installed in their PC.

A few days ago a new computer with Access 2007 and Windows 7 was connected to the network. At some time the database on this PC tried to compact and repair itself and when another user tried to access the database the database was corrupted.

I was able using utilities to restore the database but my question is:

Will I have a problem with PCs using Windows 7 and newer versions of Access? Is there a version problem with Windows 7? Note that I disconnected the Windows 7 pc from the network.

Regards

Are you using a split database and each user has a local copy of the front end?

If it is strictly a shared data file, I am less conerned about Access itself causing the corruption.

As for Windows 7, I do not have any experience with it. However you may look into the way it manages file locking compared to other versions of Windows as if there is an OS isssue I expect this would be the cause.
