What do I need to do in order to get a database so it can be access and used by multiple users at the same time? Currently the data base I have allows only one user at a time and if someone else trys to gain access an eror message pops up saying that the command cannot be completed due to sharing violations

In Access, all users must open the database for shared Access instead of exclusive (somewhere under Tools, Options). Additionally, all users must be able to read and write to the folder the database is in or they must all have read only permission.

Right, for Access files, all users must have Read *and* Write permissions to the folder. This is because for sharing purposes, the program creates the .ldb file temporarily. If a user doesn't have Write permissions, he can't open a shared file.
Also, not only do users have to have their copy of Access default to open databases in shared mode, but the database itself must be set so as not to Open Exclusively.
I suggest adding security through the .mdw file if it's at all important that users not alter any data.
