I cannot find where Access 2000 using ADP as the front end and SQL Server as back end has settings to allow more than one user at a time. When using MDB there is an option in Tools but not when using Project, can anybody help? I get a msg that the db will open in READ mode only when two users try to get to DB.

Sounds like you are trying to share the adp file.
You cannot do this with an adp. You must give each user their own copy of the file (as you should with and mdb file, whatever Access lets you get away with).
