Hi,

When installing lots of recent updates in one go without a reboot in between is it just a case of using the /Z switch with no qchain required due to updates now having inbuilt qchain functionality? I have many updates to install and have written a batch file to install them. Also is this recommended for multiple updates 20+?

Thanks

I have built many Windows 2003 servers (where I have no internet connectiivity) by using a script that applies all Post SP1 patches using the following syntax in my batch file;

patch1 -z -m
patch2 -z -m

There is nothing wrong with this process, but there is always the odd possibility of some patch that could cause issues.
Before I actually deploy patches in batch, I test on VMs to ensure that there are no issues.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I used the /passive /norestart switches to install over 40 updates without issue
