Good Morning

I'm in a 24/7 shop and we need to create a secondary transaction log file on a different drive due to space constraints on the original drive. This is no problem for me cause I'll just set the maximum file size for the one and create a secondary log file on a different drive.

When my new bigger drives come in, how am I able to go back 1 transaction log file from two?

Thanks in advance!!!

Why make a secondary transaction log? I would just move the transaction log to the 'different drive'. Then once you get the new hardware, move it to there.

You can also backup your log more often, which should keep it from growing. Then move the log to the new hardware, and resume your origional backup schedule.

The reason for the 2nd log file is to not have to detach and re-attach the database.
