We have a single PBX (Definity G3 - R9) w/ IP hardphones accross the WAN spanning different time zones. Is there a way to assign those extensions to a region and provide the displayed time on those sets in the appropriate time zone?

eg. Definity resides in CST. Some IP Hardphones are in CST, some in EST.

Thanks

I don't think that it is possible to provide
an different time on the display off your ip-hardphone
because the ip-hardphone use the time off the definity
to display.

Thanks,

I wonder, though, if there is a way to set up time zones for each defined network zone. Or possibly an offset elsewhere in the Definity

When you have an PPN and an EPN than you can set up different time zones.
one time zone for the PPN and one for your EPN.
You can do than in the change locations field.
Thats the only place where you can change timezones by my knowledge

Definity does support multiple time zones. You can do a "add location" or "change location", up to 44 locations, if you have the feature turned on. You can even set up different daylight savings rules for each location, like Arizona which doesn't have one. I can't remember if it is manditory but you can also specify a seperate ars analysis table for each location. I believe the station form has a location field for an entry that lets you specify which location the station is in.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at the ch loc and see if it is what I'm looking for.

I wonder if multiple time zones would help us...
We have a 24/7 operation. Some of the users are support and office staff which normally operates M-F only, while others are on a variety of shifts. Could setting one time zone (with an associated "normal" work day) for the support and office staff, and another time zone (without a "normal" work day) be used to enable the off-hours features (greetings, etc.)?

Doug, you're not talking time zone, you're talking time-of-day and the answer is yes, you can set up time-of-day routing plans to go to different greetings, etc.

Max,
We don't use the time-of-day, because the production users are 24/7. But I wondered whether by using a different time zone for support and office staff, at least they could use the time-of-day related features.

Doug, you would define partition groups differentiating your office staff from your production staff you could then define time-of-day coverage for the partitioned group covering your office staff which would route the calls to your after-hours greeting, directly to voice mail or to a specified extension in your production area only for that group; you don't have to mess with time zones. If you don't know how to work with partition groups, let me know.
