I am kind of new to Access, and I have been looking at many many samples and templates. The question I have is; can anyone give me a semi-simple answer: Is it necessary to have more than one table? Cant I just use one table and list all the fields that I plan to use, or will that screw things up?
I appriciate any insight....Thanks!

Hi xskaterboy,
"Is it necessary to have more than one table?"

Semi-simple answer: No. You can keep everything in one table just like Excel.

Advanced answer: Yes. If you want to store information regarding more than one Entity then Normalization theory will tell you that you will need to separate this information into more than one table. Whole books have been written about this so I won't go on and on about it here.

If your database is simple, then a simple table will suffice. Enter the word 'Normalization' into the keyword search and sit down and read with your favorite cup of coffee!
