Hello,
Do you know whether one can have more than one free site with a web hosting place like Geocities (Yahoo!) or Angelfire....

Can't seem to find a clear policy writeup anywhere...wonder what happens if one simply re-registers with identical data but alternate username? Will they disallow two freebie sites?

thanks.

Who knows?
If nothing in the TOS specifically disallows it, maybe not.

there must be many who have though. The answer is simple, try it. Probably the worst is you'll get a freebie site deleted.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Probably makes more sense to write and ask them, than to ask us.

My guess is that it should be OK - they make their money by advertising on your pages, so if you write two distinct sites, and attract two sets of visitors to have ads thrown at them, that's in their interests.

STOP PRESS

From the Geocities ToS:
You agree to not use the Service to:
[...]
(p) have multiple Yahoo GeoCities addresses that are within the same Yahoo GeoCities neighborhood or that have the same theme;

Incidentally, you can get paid hosting so cheaply these days, if you shop around a bit, that I don't see any point in using Geocities et al. Why put up with all those manky ads for the sake of a couple of dollars a month?
