i have a customer who has the following setup:
a BCM50 at their main office w/ multiple digital sets + 2 seperate remote locations with 1 ip set at one location and 3 at the other.
the 2 remote locations have different isp's. the bcm has it's own public ip and all of the 1230's at the remote location have that ip in the s1 and s2 fields of the sets and for years now this setup has worked fine. at the location with only 1 ip set it's private address is entered in the DMZ field of that router. But, at the other location where there is 3 sets only one of the sets ip is entered in the DMZ field (as you can only have 1 address in it) and on the other 2 phones, port fwding has been setup. 1 of these sets has recently had issues with getting no dial tone and with 1 way transmissions. I assume it is an issue with the proper ports being forwarded or a firewall. any suggestions on how to set this up so that all 3 sets are opened up in the customer's router? like i said, they all worked fine for a few years and are registered with the BCM. I understand that the proper way to set up this application is with the use of a VPN. but, we cheated by using a static public ip @ the BCM.
