Multiple "Database Source" at runtime

We are new to CE10. We would like to create reports on a test DB we will call TEST. After approval we want to change the DB to PRODUCTION. Both DB's have same schema and views. They, the bosses, just do not want crystal writers having access to PRODUCTION. I thought we could make this change on the PROCESS/DATABASE page of CE. But it looks like the only way to change the "data source" is to recompile and set the database to PRODUCTION within the report. Is there a way to set multiple DB's and have them switch at run time using the PROCESS/DATABASE functions combined with the scheduler?

What are you recompiling?

What type of database and connection are you using, Oracle?

There are 3rd party products that do this en mass, you may need to reset the connectivity and then place it on the server again, it depends on basic technical information that you did NOT supply.

We are using OEM version CE10 in an oracle/JDEdwards/Peoplesoft 8.12 world. It is pure vanilla or so I am told.

I use the word "compiled" in the sense of opening a report with Crystal that resides on CE10, clicking on Database, clicking on set database location, clicking on a new source stored under history or finding a new source, clicking on update, logging in to the new source, and wathing the original go away, than saving the report back to CE10. Is there a way to save both sources and choose the one you want at run time within CE10?

The newbie part of me hoped that the Process/database page of CE10 would provide a method of allowing the "boss" to do this without opening Crystal Reports because the "boss" wants to follow the old PeopleSoft method of promoting reports to production (see control and trust) without the "boss" using Crystal.

What other techinical information would you like? Because note the word "control". I was tasked with making this run without knowing or being allowed to know the backend.

Download a demo copy of Object Manager from APOS Systems - This tool allows you to select a number of reports and set their data sources all at once.
You'll need to fill out a form to get a demo license from them.

In testing the APOS software does just what I want. Thanks for the input.
