Multiple Profiles on XP

We are having this issue where user profile are getting corrupted quite often, When you lookin doc and setting you see
user
user.000
user.001
and so on. We have run MS fix uphclean.exe, works but only for a while then starts again. Anyone since this issue before if so how did you fix it.

Right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. Locate the entries for your hard disks and double click each entry. On the Policies tab, uncheck Enable write caching.
