Hello,
Here's a situation I have. Please help.
I have products that sell by a single or by a box where the box price need to include discounted price.
For example; single product cost $10, and there's 15 of them in a box. Customer expects to pay $130 for the box.
How can I do this without creating 2 different product IDs?
Only problem with creating 2 different product IDs is that it look like totally separate products.

Ideal solution to this would be;
* single product ID with 2 different prices & 2 different "add to basket" buttons.
or
* somehow I can show 2 different product IDs in single row (where I use 'line' product display)

Thank you!

There are several ways to approach this. The easiest (both initially and ongoing) is to get a module. For example, go to and search for "quantity discount", and you'll find a module under $30 that does this.

Another way is with an attribute. For example, create an attribute for the product called "Box", and have it add $115 to the total (the initial $15 plus $115 to make the desired $130). The downside: inventory tracking gets broken, since inventory isn't tracked by attribute.

Another possible way: has a "kit maker" module. --------------

Thank you for your reply.

This is what I found so far.
"quantity discount" from mvcool only does quantity discount by total number of items bought.
(if someone buys 15 separate items rather than 15 of the same item=box)

Found "Deluxe Minimum and Price Breaks for Bulk Discounts by WUMP SERVICES" from mvcool - which it looks like it will do what i need and more - but little pricy.

Also found "volume pricing" from DesignExtend - which I believe do just what i need.

Now, do you see any big advantage of going with mvcool?

For some reason, I feel more comfortable dealing with mvcool - maybe it's just their name :)

Thanks!

MVCool is primarily a distributor; while WUMP (the owners of MVCool) develops modules, there are also modules from a dozen or more other, unrelated developers. On their main page, scroll to the bottom-left and you'll see the list of represented developers.

I've had very few problems with MVCool. While sometimes the modules are also available at the individual developers' Web sites, there is no difference in price. --------------
