I have an application that I am running 3+ Procomm Telnet sessions to a terminal server. When more than 3 telnet sessions are open I am seeing dropped characters, added characters or groups of characters appearing on the wrong terminal. I do not see this issue if running on Direct Com ports.

What version of Procomm are you running? I know this was an issue with earlier versions (4.0 or 4.5 I think) but was supposedly fixed. I have run four telnet windows at once before without seeing this issue, but saw someone on the Symantec support forum with this issue a couple weeks ago, so it may be possible that not all possible problems were resolved.

Version 4.8 is what I am running. I originally blamed this on the Cisco terminal server, but I have since tried a Digi PortserverII and the problem is worse(why??) If I run the Dig terminal server with "RealPort" (Emulates com ports) I don't see the problem, but I am limited to 9 com ports per PC. I ttied the Procom hack for over 10 ports with no sucess.

I wouldn't bother with that "com ports over COM10" hack as it does not work for anyone that I am aware of (it would be best for Symantec to just remove that from their site).

What terminal emulation are you using in Procomm?

Yes Three will work without error, 4 will work most of the time(hours) befor failing, and errors will be minor(but still enough to mess-up a script)

How are you launching the additional windows? Window | New Window | Telnet menu item, double clicking the Procomm icon, via a script, etc.? I'm not sure this would matter, but it might be something to try out.

No I have tried all of that, puls playing with telnet settings(baud rate, negotiations etc)

I talked to one of the last Procomm developers today and he had run into this problem before. He has a replacement pwtelnet.dlc that you can try to see if it resolves your problem. Drop me an email and I'll forward the file to you when I receive it from him.

For anyone who wants to test this updated file, I have made it available here:

The Procomm developer asked that you send me any problems that you may come across with this updated file (you may wish to rename the previous file instead of overwriting it so you can restore the original version if necessary).
