Hey all,

I just finished installing SuSE 8.2. I love it. However I noticed something odd. I was running RedHat 8, and never had this problem before.

When running X w/Enlightenment the system TOP says I'm using about 170megs of memory. Then I bust out Mozilla and it forks about 6 processes for one window and almost maxes out my physical memory.

Any ideas as to why this would happen? Over the years, I've always been a huge advocate of Linux/X being a great substitute for Windows, and even setup most of my family on X... however if this memory useage is correct (it seems to be because my system slows down) I'm going to have to install 98... :(

BTW, I had installed KDE and GNOME (well, the GNOME utils anyway)... I uninstalled KDE because it seemed to be a huge memory hog in and of itself... but even with just X running Enlightenment as the Window Manager memory usage is up...

This is just stressful because I'm running on 256megs of memory on a simple production server. X is a requirement, and Enlightenment is just nice to have visually ;) Like I said, I never had this problem in RedHat... I don't know, I'm just saddened.
