So i've got five phones all 2616's that need to be notified if a specific mailbox has a message. we have an Option11 using a DSSI voicemail system. it thoguht i could make this happen by setting up mcn's on each phone with the desired extension but this is not working. ANyone got any ideas?

lite it from mail admin - add the dnbs of the 5 sets to mwk settings.

that sounds like a good idea but i've got no idea how to do that? i'm fairly new to this thing, and pretty much all the advanced features are greek to me. i don't even know which LD to go into to make those changes. if you can tell me that much i can probably figure it out from the manuals i've got.

Appreciate the quick reply though.

I have never done this before and someone else may have your answer, but these may help you figure something out.

xx MCK Message Cancellation Key
This key should only be programmed on Message
Center sets.

xx MIK Message Indication Key
This key should only be programmed on Message
Center sets.

xx MWK yyyy mwc-1
Message Waiting Key
Where: yyyy = DN.
The DN can be up to 4 digits, up to 7 digits with
Directory Number Expansion (DNXP) package 150.
With the Network Message Service feature
equipped, the NMS-DN can be up to 13 digits.
On the M3902, key 5 is reserved for MWK or NUL.
On the M3903, M3904, M3905, key 16 is reserved
for MWK or NUL

xx XMWK
xxxx yyyy
Extended Message Waiting indication key
Where:
xx= key number
xxxx = Message Center DN
yyyy = DN to be monitored

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

got my own answer thanks to you guys.

you do the following
LD 20
CHG change
xxxx Enter Phone type e.x 2616, 2317
xx xx Enter TN
YES Enable Easy Change
CLS mwa lmpx enables message wait allowed (mdx to turn off) and multiple lamp allowed (LMPN for single lamp)
KEY xx xx = key number you'd like to use
xx yyyy zzzz xx = key number you'd like to use, yyyy is the feature you want (SCR, SCN, MCN, MCR), zzzz is the extension or DN you want. In order for this to work the DN must be configured somewhere on the phone.
xx XMWK 4400 yyyy xx = key number you'd like to use, yyyy is the extension you configured in the last step. This will setup a key that will blink when there is a message for he configured extension.
