Multiple Password Files on the same machine?

Does anyone know how if I can have multiple password files on the same
machine? I am running Solaris 7, Oracle 8i 8.1.6
I have 3 instances on the same machine, to use RMAN remotely I have to
have
the password file enabled for all 3 instances. The password file seems
to be
hardwired to one location i.e. $ORACLE_HOME/dbs, and one filename

any one have any clues on this?
