I work in a school and recently upgrade our Notes 5 to 6.5. Being a school, I have a number of systems that 2 or 3 teachers need to share. With Notes 5 one teacher could log in and as long as a short cut was placed on their desktop any other person could check their mail. Now with Notes 6 each person has to log out and the new person must log in to check mail, as the data file is saved with the profile. The problem recently experienced is that when one person logs out and another logs in, the set up screen appears and I have to set up the account again (though their information is located in their “C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Notes\data” folder. What makes it worse is when the first person logs back in, have to do the whole thing over again. I can not have it this way! I am not sure what I have done wrong or if there is something I missed along the way. Is there a solution, better yet, is there a way when there are more than one user to have the data files stay on the C drive as with version 5 rather than in the profile.

Hello,

I would recommend testing iNotes (Web Access). This will allow any teacher to access there email and calendar from any PC on your school LAN/WAN. We use it here and find it very helpful for the people on the road or bouncing around the office.

To enable iNotes, you would replace the design of the users mail file with iNotes6.ntf. Then you would set the users "Internet Password" in the NAB (Person Document). Make sure the HTTP task has started (lo http from the console), and then test by connecting to the users mail file (
You could take this one step further and use the WebMailRedirect.nsf DB to handle the logins and Auth. This will also allow you to place the school logo on the login page for all. Just some ideas...

Rgds,

John
