just bought an o2 e160 usb modem for occasional payg use on vista laptop.

reluctant to install the o2 connection mgr - as i would prefer to control from windows (i know i can control conn mgr start up)

intend to buy another suppliers usb modem again for occasional payg use - system/overlap impact?

as a mobile broadband newbie i want to keep my system setup for home wireless access with the ability to invoke payg mobile use as required. advice/comments please.

If you're needing something mobile, why not get a wireless internet deal with a cellphone provider? Assuming you're talking about a laptop, and you already have a cellphone contract. It's not super cheap, but surely it'd be a better route than a modem connected via USB! You surely shouldn't suffer from connectivity issues or network lag! [ponder]

Your plan sounds fine, you don't 'have' to use their connection software (although the O2 stuff isn't too bad). As long as your browser (I'm assuming IE) is configured to utilise the current connection, and not dial out, you shouldn't have any problems.
