Multiple mailboxes on local workspace.

I work with a company that uses Notes R5 5.010 client. we have had several instances of a user whose local mailbox will be duplicated. no apparent reason for it. 1 mailbox will actually be current. I can remove the incorrect mailbox, but periodically it will come back.I have removed both and created a new replica and moments after it has finished, the new design will show up and create a new duplicate of local mailbox. has any one seen this problem and what would the cause be? thanks for any help.
