I was just trying to set a good channel for my own wireless and using inSSIDer to sniff out the channels in the neighborhood. I see that the Comcast Residential Gateways have three MAC addresses and three different SSIDs. It goes like this:
XX:1D6:B6:CF:70 where there are three different MAC listings with only the first values being different
The names are xfinitywifi, blank (no ssid) and HOME-XXXX
I know that Comcast is putting out the hot spot signal and that is the xfinitywifi. The HOME-XXXX is the private network SSID that comes with this particular gateway. So, what is the blank SSID for?
What do the three MACs represent - one per SSID
