Hi
Hi!
I am looking for any documentation in regards to multiple language configurations / deployments for Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 SP1 or SP2.

Seems there are only references in a few of the administrator guides and a small section in the Crystal Reports on how to handle multiple language reporting.

If you know of something posted, on BO site, or have gone through the process of supporting mulitple languages, would you please share your experiences.

Thanks!

Thanks so much!

We support English/French Crystal Report delivery for our Canadian Government clients through BOE-XI (R2).

There are three options that we use depending on the context of the reports and the method of delivery (eg. InfoView, SMTP attachment, .Net Application) -

1.) LANGUAGE PARAMETER : Crystal Report parameter for language passed through to Oracle Stored Procedure which returns the English/French values from the DB. All labels and headers are based on Crystal Report formulas that require the parameter value. (*Used mostly for .Net Applications via SDK)

2.) MULTI-LANGUAGE REPORT : Crystal Reports display the values from the DB, labels and headers in BOTH languages. (*Used mostly for SMTP attachments in XLS and PDF, some InfoView Scheduled HISTORY viewing)

3.) SEPARATE REPORTS IN DIFFERENT FOLDERS : Two separate folders of English and French Crystal Report. (*Used mostly for InfoView Reports that can be run as View-On-Demand)

For the BOE-XI (R2) InfoView settings we have all users preferences set to "Use Browser Locale", so that they get the interface in the language of their browser (IE only).

We are now starting to play around with Universes, WebI and Business View settings to figure-out the best methods for supporting English/French in those tools.
