Hello. I have several users (including myself) who split their time between working in the office and remotely. Is it possible to have a deskphone and softphone (like x-Lite) share the same extension?
Thanks meyer1y2k... I enabled it but my softphone still will not connect. I can connect to a different that doesn't have a physical IP phone already connect. When you "switch" between handset and app do you have to unplug the handset?
I use the NEC Multi-Line Client for a soft phone. When I log in, I get prompted to override? Answering yes, will log out whatever device is logged in as my extension. We have not tried other SIP based soft phones so I am not sure how that would work. When I am at my desk, my phone (assuming it is logged out) will show a button to press to login which then does the same thing above.
I was researching something else and came across this in the Features manual for the 9100. Based on this, you might have to use MLC or UC Client as a softphone.
When using Override with an active CTI connection, Program 15-05-39 must be enabled
for the extensions that will be overridden. The overriding terminal must be of the same type
and number of line keys as the terminal to be overridden. If the types of terminals and
number of keys are different between overriding and overridden phones, the Telephony
Service Providers (1st Party and 3rd Party) may not function properly.
Thanks for the replies. I have both CTI Override and IP Duplication turned on but cannot switch between phones without going and deleting the IP phone for my extension.
Only UC suite will log off your desk phone, all other options, such as ST500 (my preferred option), Xlight , 3CX etc. will require a forced log off (Cmd 90-23) and may well need additional programming to reinstate it. I usually recommend biting the bullet and buying additional VoIP extension/port licencing and create additional extensions that are then forwarded to set to ring both. Also set the twinned extension to send the CLI of the extension it is twinned with!
