Hi,
Is it possible to create multiple instances of Teradata on the same Unix machine? Can i create more than one superuser on the same Unix machine?
Currently i am having a development database in Teradata on Unix(NCR Worldmark Server) and i want to move into production. How can i do that? Can i create another instance of database on the same machine which i can use for Production?
What are the other possibilities?

Please do reply to this query.

Thanks and Regards

No. Teradata uses a KERNEL driver component to communicate with schedulers and memory and disks and therefore only one Teradata instance is allowed per node.

However, you might want to consider using ARC to Archive your database and then use ARC COPY to create a duplicate copy of your database ( table for table row for row )

You could use one database for your production work and use the other database for your development work.

Now this means that your production work will suffer at the hands of your development work since they are running against the same server, however you could use the Priority scheduler to limit the impact of your development queries on the production work load.
