Long Time Reader - First Time Poster.

I am having problems with a current project. I need to ask personnel a series of questiones about tasks that they complete within their job, the results of this will create a training requirement.

Each question of broken down into 4 parts.

1. Do You Complete this tasks as Part of your employment. (Yes/ No)
2. How Difficult is the Task (Very, Moderately, Not)
3. How Important is the Task (Very, Moderately, Not)
4. How Frequent do you perform the Task (Very, Moderate, Infrequent)

Using the resonses to the last three parts of the question the task can be allocated a Training Category (1-6).

Is there a way of only recording the training category into a field without using 27 lines of IF commands on each question??

Thank you in anticipation of assistance.

Shouldn't be too hard. What's the criteria for assigning a training category?

How about a lookup table with four fields and 27 rows? The first three fields hold the answers to the three questions and the fourth holds the category for that combination. All you have to do then is search the table for the row whose fields match the answers given by each user.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you the Training Cat is allocated as such:

Very Difficult Very Important Very Frequent 2
Very Difficult Very Important Moderately Frequent 1
Very Difficult Very Important Infrequent 1
Very Difficult Moderately Important Very Frequent 2
Very Difficult Moderately Important Moderately Frequent 2
Very Difficult Moderately Important Infrequent 1
Very Difficult Not Important Very Frequent 3
Very Difficult Not Important Moderately Frequent 3
Very Difficult Not Important Infrequent 2
Moderately Difficult Very Important Very Frequent 2
Moderately Difficult Very Important Moderately Frequent 2
Moderately Difficult Very Important Infrequent 2
Moderately Difficult Moderately Important Very Frequent 3
Moderately Difficult Moderately Important Moderately Frequent 2
Moderately Difficult Moderately Important Infrequent 2
Moderately Difficult Not Important Very Frequent 3
Moderately Difficult Not Important Moderately Frequent 4
Moderately Difficult Not Important Infrequent 5
Not Difficult Very Important Very Frequent 3
Not Difficult Very Important Moderately Frequent 3
Not Difficult Very Important Infrequent 2
Not Difficult Moderately Important Very Frequent 3
Not Difficult Moderately Important Moderately Frequent 4
Not Difficult Moderately Important Infrequent 4
Not Difficult Not Important Very Frequent 5
Not Difficult Not Important Moderately Frequent 6
Not Difficult Not Important Infrequent 6

I have put together a small test DB that you can choose the three items and it gives you the relevant Trg Cat through the use of a Query. Will I need to create a query for each question I am putting on the questionaire.

Any suggestions greatfully received
