I want to make a "collage" from a number of vacation images on one page so that I can import it into my CD labeling program and make a CD label from it. I don't necessarily want the images "blended". I've looked in the manual and can't find this seemingly simple operation described. Am I failing to see the trees for the forest? Is this operation a Layers thing?
Thanks.

Hi,

If you don't want to have your images blended then this is just a layers issue.

Simply import or paste each seperate picture onto a new layer, then drag the images to where you want them to be. You will also want to drag the layers that are on the layer palete so as to get your stack order. Always good to name your layers too so that you know which image is which.

Hope this helps!

Open two images.

"Select All" on one image.

Choose the 4-way arrow tool.

Then drag that selected image into the other image's window. This will create a new layer automatically.

You can do that also, but you don't have to "select all" to do that, simply select the arrow tool and drag the images into a main image.

When I am creating CD labels in PS I always create a main document and make a mockup cd outline (both outer and inner cirlces)and have those outlines as the highest layer so that I have a guide when positioning pics to know where the label edges are then drag and drop other images in and position accordingly on the layers below

FYI - CD dimensions are: Outer Circle - 12cm x 12cm & Inner Circle - 4cm x 4cm for a standard CD label.

Hope this helps!
